Staff News

We are very pleased to announce that Victoria Sebbage has decided to pursue a career in medicine and has received offers from several medical schools to begin her training in the autumn. In the meantime, she has extended her medical receptionist role to include further management responsibilities, and is sharing practice administration with David Lee-Jones.

The practice was recently happy to celebrate with Sabrina O'Gorman the first anniversary of her joining the team as medical secretary.

The Diet Doctors

In 2007. Samina co-presented the third series of the popular programme 'The Diet Doctors' on Channel 5, which has recently been rebroadcast.

Samina was co-writer of the book based on the series. It is called

'Diet Doctors Inside and Out': The 12-week Plan to Make You Slim for Life.

It can be bought at all good bookshops, including Amazon, or signed copies are available from the practice.

Care Quality Commission

The practice is now formally registered with the Care Quality Commission, formerly known as the Health Care Commission. This entails having all aspects of our practice scrutinised and means all processes within the practice have been assessed as 'safe' and that modern healthcare standards have been met. We knew we were doing things right, but it's nice to have formal recognition!

Health News

Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) Vaccination

You may have read about this new vaccination. It is aimed primarily at young girls, although it can be given to women up to the age of 26. Ideally, females should receive this vaccine before they become sexually active.

By preventing HPV infection it will prevent the development of most pre-cancers of the cervix, vulva and vagina, and genital warts. Studies show that the vaccination is very safe.

A choice of vaccine (Cervarix and Gardasil) is now available at the HSGP. Three doses of either is required, and prices are available on request.

If you or a member of your family would like to consider vaccination against HPV, please do contact us.

Price Increase

It has been nearly three years since there has been any change to our practice fees and as of 1st February 2010, there has been a small increase. Please see the Our Fees section of the website for full information.
