Staff news

Rebecca Park, who was our practice manager for just over three years, left us in January to take on a new corporate practice management role. We are extremely grateful for all she has done for the practice and, while we are sad to see her go, we wish her the very best in her new career.

We are pleased to welcome David Lee-Jones back to the team, who many patients will have come across when he was with us last year as a medical secretary. He will be taking over the accounts and sharing practice administration with Victoria Sebbage, who will be extending her medical receptionist role to include further management responsibilities. David also pursues a career in acting and has recently completed filming on the British comedy feature Elevator Gods, which should be in cinemas in 2011.

In other Entertainment news, our own Dr Eugene Lewis performed with the European Doctors Orchestra in a special concert on Tuesday 9th February in support of The Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture.

The Diet Doctors and facing the eternal New Year Diet Resolution!

Samina co-presented the 3rd series of the popular programme 'The Diet Doctors' on Channel 5, which has recently been rebroadcasted.

Samina was co-writer of the book, based on the series. It is called

'Diet Doctors Inside and Out': The 12-week Plan to Make You Slim for Life.

It can be bought at all good bookshops including Amazon or signed copies available from the practice.

Start reading and adjusting your life-style now, still enjoy the festive season and avoid the dread of the New Year diet!

Care Quality Commission Registered

The practice is now formally registered with the Care Quality Commission formerly known as The Health Care Commission. This entails having all aspects of our practice scrutinised and means all processes within the practice have been assessed as 'safe'  and that modern healthcare standards have been met.  We knew we were doing it right, but its nice to have formal recognition!

Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) Vaccination

You may have read about this new vaccination. It is aimed primarily at young girls, although it can be given to women up to the age of 26. Ideally, females should receive this vaccine before they become sexually active.

By preventing HPV infection it will prevent the development of most pre-cancers of the cervix, vulva and vagina, and genital warts. Studies show that the vaccination is very safe.

A choice of vaccine (Cervarix and Gardasil) is now available at the HSGP. Three doses of either is required, and prices are available on request.

If you or a member of your family would like to consider vaccination against HPV please do contact us.

Price Increase

It has been nearly three years since there has been any change to our practice fees and as of 1st February 2010, there has been a small increase. Please see the Our Fees section of the website for full information.
