Our Doctors
Dr Samina Showghi
MBBS DCH DRCOG MRCGP GMC
GMC Registration Number: 3680887
Samina qualified from University College and Middlesex School of Medicine in 1993 and subsequently attained postgraduate qualifications in Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology and General Practice. After eight years’ experience as a GP in both the NHS and private sectors, she established The Harley Street General Practice in 2002. She worked for nearly five years as a Clinical Assistant in the Early Pregnancy and Gynaecology Unit at King’s College Hospital, London.
Samina appeared on national television in Channel 5’s third series of The Diet Doctors and has spoken on Times Radio.
With her essence being a traditional GP, her particular interests include cardiology, mental health, gynaecology and the menopause, which she also gives presentations on to our corporate clients.
“‘Because I like helping people.’ That’s what I said at my medical school interview when they asked why I wanted to be a doctor, but it’s taken me many years to value what that truly means: being able to help someone in pain, all different types of pain, and the deep sense of fulfilment it gives me. I feel honoured to be a doctor, to have that unique relationship with so many people, and to be their trusted confidante in times of need.”
Dr Hussain Al-Hashimi
BSc (Hons) MBBS MRCGP
GMC Registration Number: 7134387
Hussain graduated from St George’s University of London with a Merit in Clinical Practice in 2011 and, after completing his GP training, worked both as an NHS GP in Marylebone and an emergency medicine doctor in Northwick Park Hospital. Whilst being an Imperial College GP tutor to medical students, he was inspired to create successful medical education apps.
He joined The Harley Street General Practice in 2017 and became a Partner in 2021 and lead of Clinical Governance. He has special interests in paediatrics, men’s health, dermatology, travel and emergency medicine, and, in turn, has developed a repertoire of up-to-date presentations for our corporate clients.
“General Practice was the perfect career for me because I have a genuine interest in people. It is the only medical speciality that allows you to spend time getting to know a person and to help them along with their health choices rather than just treating “disease”. I have met some truly inspirational people working as a GP who have taught me how providing great patient care means looking after all their needs, be they emotional, physical or mental, which is our philosophy at The Harley Street Practice. To work with a close knit group of doctors who share this ethos is a privilege and ensures that we provide our patients the best care.”
Dr Taryn Walker
MBBS MRCGP
GMC Registration Number: 7084017
Taryn qualified from St George’s University of London in 2010 and completed her GP training in London. After 14 years of practice within the NHS, she now works solely in private practice, where she can offer personalised care and long-term health planning. Her clinical areas of interest include mental health, menopause medicine, men’s health and preventative medicine, with a focus on lifestyle-based interventions and cancer screening.
Having previously served as an Education Seminar Chair for the Royal College of General Practitioners and as a mentor to fellow GPs, she currently teaches medical students and enjoys interacting with the next generation of doctors. She undertakes voluntary work in places such as Mozambique and South Africa.
“General practice is the most rewarding, intellectually interesting and satisfying career. It complements my role as a mother and enables me to build trusted relationships with people of all ages and backgrounds, often when they need it most. I thoroughly enjoy spending time with my patients while also keeping abreast of the ever-changing face of medicine.”

Dr Malik has extensive experience as a private GP in the City of London and maintains regular work within the NHS. She has a particular interest in women’s health, gut health and lifestyle medicine, but is experienced in all aspects of general practice.
“As a GP I feel so privileged to be able to take care of patients and their families at all the different stages of life, caring for them during their minor illnesses through to the biggest of health challenges. It means so much to be able to provide the sort of care and compassion that I hope a family member would receive, and this is the dedication with which I try to be there for my patients. General practice means there is always much to learn and stay abreast of as each individual field of medicine and surgery advances with time, and this is something that keeps me excited as a GP.”
